Overview of the Integrated Skill Development Scheme (ISDS)

Ministry of Textiles has selected Textiles Committee as one of the organizations to impart training in the quality related areas under the ISDS. After successful training, the trainees will be addressed as Textiles Committee Certified Quality Professionals.

OBJECTIVES

  • To bridge the gap between acquired knowledge and industry requirements for degree and diploma students.
  • To provide the industry with multi faceted professionals with understanding and skill of various aspects of textile business.
  • To impart knowledge of textile trade and industry to the working professionals to enable them to understand the multifaceted aspects of the industry
  • COURSE DESIGN AND CONTENT

    Textiles Committee has done extensive consultations with the various industry associations in understanding the felt need of the industry in the area of Quality and identified the gaps with respect to multi skilling aspects. Areas covered in the program are: Orientation to Textiles and Textile Processes, textile testing and Quality appraisal, Application of TQM techniques, Principles of Statistics and SPC, Productivity and Work study, Industrial law applicable to textiles, export documentation and compliance. The course is designed in consultation with the industry associations and based upon their requirements; 24 modules have been identified with the expertise knowledge of the Textiles Committee.     The Integrated Skill Development Scheme (ISDS) was launched by the Ministry of Textiles to address the trained manpower need of the textile and related sector. Resource Support Agency (RSA) has been envisaged as a quality assurance arm of skill initiatives of the Ministry to develop a strong institutional mechanism for addressing the issues related to quality of training, standardisation and accreditation processes, standard curriculum, content development, development of training material and modules, devising ways and means for assessment and certification.

    The textiles sector has the second largest employment after agriculture sector and occupies an important position in the Indian economy. ISDS Textiles Sector has set a target of skilling 15 lakhs persons to bridge the skill gap.

     

    Standardisation of Assessment Process and Online Generation of Certificate

    The assessment process under ISDS aims to test and certify the competency of the trainees who have been trained by the respective Implementing Agencies. The scheme provides for mandatory third party assessment of the trainees. With a view to broad base the panel of assessment agencies under the Scheme, Government accredited and professional assessment agencies has been empanelled by RSA. Further, to streamline the assessment and certification process, RSA has framed a standard protocol to be adopted by all concerned.
